In order for us to serve and please God, we must first understand that it is an honour to be wanted by God to work for Him. It is our duty to exhaust our lives for Jesus. We are to be living sacrifices, we are to spend and to be spent.
He took you out from the world, now He will take the world out of you!
2 Corinthians 6:17
"Therefore come out from them and be seperate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and i will receive you." (NIV)
The above verse tells us to walk out from among the sinners, yet not be one of them. We are told to 'shine' in society and stand out from the crowd while doing God's work.
Some people get the impression that this means we are not supposed to associate in any way with unbelievers. Yet Mark tells us:
Mark 16:15
"Go into all the world and preach the good new to all creation."
Mark 16:15 is possible one of the clearest verses in the Bible in regards to evangelism. We as Christians are expected to go out into the world and preach the gospel to those who are in need, living in darkness, to bring them closer to God so that they too may change their lives.
Jesus is our sanctification. He supplies the grace for our sanctification.
The gospel is a well of living water within us that transforms our very lives and then springs forward so that we may impact the lives of others. We are not meant to take the gospel as a set of rules, regulations and laws, but rather to see it as a loving response in the relationship we have with our Lord.
How do you apply the above scriptures to your daily life?
Stop now for 5 minutes and think of a time when you passionately gave yourself to a project/cause in order to satisfy God.
Phillipians 2:13
"For it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure."
Matthew 7:20
"Thus, by their fruit you will recognise them."
How does it make you feel when you read that God wants you to work for Him?
Has there been a time in your life when you have been asked "Are you a Christian?" or has someone seen the Holy Spirit within you, without you even speaking a word?
Have you been treated differently by society because you are a Christian or because you strive to live honestly and cleanly according to Gods will?
God didnt save you so He could use you. He saved you because He desired to KNOW YOU intimately and for you to KNOW HIM intimately. That is the REASON you were created.
